Compassionate Kids

What would this world be without compassionate kids?  They are our future and it is up to us to teach them a love and understanding for our 4 legged friends!

Junior Volunteers

It is very important for children to learn empathy as well as responsible care of animals. Our junior volunteers are a welcome and valuable presence in our shelter!  Anyone under the age of 16 MUST have a fully trained adult present at all times.  No one under the age of 14 may walk a dog alone.

Puppy & Kitty Love

Socialization is very important in helping us to find furever homes for the animals, so it is very helpful to introduce our shelter dogs and cats to little people.

Scout Projects

For her Girl Scout Silver Project volunteer Allura made and donated toys for the dogs at MHF.  Check out her link above to see how you can easily make toys at home!

Food & Supply Drive

Holding a Pet Food & Supply Drive at a local grocery stores helps MHF care for many animals in need both at the shelter and through programs such as our Chained Dog Program.

Birthday Donations

Emily asked for donations to give to the MHF animals for her birthday instead of presents!  The kittens loved their new toy mice. Her brother, Burk, did the same thing for his 5th Birthday!

Selfless Dedication

For the past few years Luke has asked for donations for the animals at MHF in lieu of birthday presents.  It is very heart-warming to us when children have such compassion & love for animals in need!
